Katie Valenti Gets Married
Posted March 7, 2009

Many of our readers will remember Katie Valenti from Return of the Daughters. We have heard over and over how blessed and inspired families were by the testimony of Katie and the whole Valenti family, and knew our readers would rejoice to hear that Katie has just been united in holy matrimony with Phillip Bradrick.

Take a moment to watch this touching clip from Return of the Daughters, where Mr. Valenti spoke of treasuring his remaining years with his eldest daughter before he would give her in marriage.

Katie served faithfully as a daughter in her home, submitted to the authority of her father. Last week we saw that authority transferred to another man, as Katie entered a new household — the Phillip Bradrick household.

Our prayers are with this new couple, that they may “be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it” (Genesis 1:28).

We loved seeing this picture of what a “real family” looks like.

The family of Michael and Susan Bradrick… so far.

Chalcedon reviews “Return of the Daughters”
Posted January 27, 2009

For years our family has been very grateful for the work of The Chalcedon Foundation, and their bold, uncompromising teachings on systematic theology and biblical law. As young teenagers studying out the ideas that would eventually take the shape of a book and then a documentary, we were profoundly affected and challenged by books such as R.J. Rushdoony’s Institutes of Biblical Law (which we encourage every girl to read).

We were extremely honored to see that Chalcedon columnist Andrea Schwartz just wrote this kind review of our documentary, “Return of the Daughters.”

The Church’s Secret Weapon

If you have not already viewed “Return of the Daughters” I highly recommend that you do so. But, prepare to be challenged. Be prepared to have many of your embedded concepts of humanism and secularism unearthed and dislodged. Be prepared to see how faithful Christian families are saying “yes” to God’s plan and “no” to the world’s.

This documentary could have just as easily been titled “Return of the Fathers,” because the heads-of-households interviewed have fully embraced their roles as trustees for their biblical trustee families.

When families no longer squander the talents, energies, and contributions of their unmarried daughters — sending them away from the home to pursue “success” — we will see another milestone accomplished in the rebuilding of our culture to the honor and glory of Jesus Christ. As the film asserts, unmarried daughters serving their fathers by forwarding their fathers’ dominion-oriented commitment to press the Crown Rights of Jesus Christ are the Church’s secret weapons indeed!

The Marriage of Melissa Keen
Posted April 8, 2008

One of the featured daughters in our documentary, The Return of the Daughters, has made the transition from a daughter in her father’s house to a bride in her husband’s house.

Melissa Keen’s example of devotion to her family and service to the church inspired girls around the world.

A Happy Couple

Now we’re excited to see how she will transfer her passion for the biblical home and family life into her new role as a wife, and we’re excited about seeing generations of kingdom advancement arising from her union with Justin Turley.

A Happy Couple

Their wedding alone was a time of great celebration, vision-casting, and victory. God bless Justin and Melissa Turley!

Bonus Feature: Encouraging Brothers
Posted November 19, 2007

Our interviewees for “The Return of the Daughters” gave us so much excellent material that, in addition to the 58 minutes of documentary, we ended up creating over 50 minutes of bonus material to be included on the DVD.

One of the three bonus features on the Return of the Daughters DVD is called “Encouraging Brothers: How sisters are helping their brothers become men.”

The way girls treat their brothers can affect how their brothers will perceive masculinity, how they will view their wives, how they will treat their children, and what kind of stand they will take in our culture. In a time when families are fragmented and dysfunctional and pop culture is at war with manliness, there are growing numbers of daughters who are taking a stand to encourage their brothers to become men.

The young women interviewed in “The Return of the Daughters” reveal how they went from merely “tolerating” their brothers to developing dynamic, mutually edifying, best-friend relationships with their brothers. Their brothers give testimony to how their sisters have helped strengthen and inspire them to biblical manhood.

Bonus Feature: Courtship and Marriage

Our interviewees for “The Return of the Daughters” gave us so much excellent material that, in addition to the 58 minutes of documentary, we ended up creating over 50 minutes of bonus material to be included on the DVD.

One of the three bonus features on the Return of the Daughters DVD is called “Courtship and Marriage: Peter and Kelly Bradrick’s extraordinary love story.”

The story of Peter Bradrick’s courtship of Kelly Brown is a story about two young people blazing a trail back to the biblical foundations of marriage. One year later, on the eve of the birth of their firstborn son, they talk about the path they traveled that led them into a strong marriage. Peter speaks out with passion on the womanly qualities that were important to him and his friends, and tells their courtship story. Kelly shares how her parents prepared her for marriage, and what she appreciates about how they handled the courtship process. Scott Brown describes the duties of a father to his daughter concerning marriage. This collection of comments and recollections presents a fresh perspective on courtship and marriage.

Return of the Daughters: Update #7
Posted October 4, 2007

Feedback on the upcoming “Return of the Daughters” documentary runs the gamut from the good, the bad and the ugly, to the astonishingly candid. Though most of the comments have been overwhelmingly positive, we occasionally encounter frank assessments of our beliefs like the one below:

How weird. …talk about not having a life. These poor girls do not know what’s really out there for them. If you want to settle down after marrige-that’s fine but for a girl to waste the best years of her life waiting for prince charming to come rescue her from a cinderella life in the home-you will miss so much!! Dating, College, partying…the list goes on and on. … I can only feel sorry for these brain washed young women who are prisoners in their own homes!

Our trailer and updates have piqued people’s interest and sparked some interesting public debate. Are our featured girls leading boring lives? Are they spending their single years sitting around “waiting for Prince Charming”? Are they missing out on anything worth having? Are they prisoners in their own homes? Have they been brainwashed, or do they think and speak for themselves? Was this lifestyle forced on them, or did they choose it?

Why is this way of life so exciting, adventurous, and rewarding for such intelligent and ambitious young women?

You’ll just have to wait until the film comes out to find out.
